HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YONG LONG!

Yesterday we had an early celebration for Yong Long's 19th birthday at Wheelock's Place N.Y.D.C. Yong Long was wearing what i gave him a few years back and it incredibly looks new, i asked him and he claimed that he wore it for the past few years. So i really wonder what detergent his mum uses.

This was what i ate. Red Hot Chili Pepper Oven Baked Rice. Quite nice.

My dessert, Oreo Cheesecake Combo. The ice cream was already half melted when it was served, i wonder if they have a fridge there. Anyway, the cheesecake tasted good, but the temperature wasn't cold enough, so it eventually tasted not that nice.

Cindy's dessert, Boney Cake Combo i think? The cake was nice, Si Rong agreed with me, but Cindy didn't like it.

Si Rong's super big cup of elephancino. Dunno what flavour was it. But it sure tasted like Starbucks' ice coffee.

Birthday boy's cake.

Anyway, before meeting them out for the birthday dinner, dear and i went to Plaza Singapura to buy some stuffs.

Mozzie net that was selling at only $9+ from Spotlight.

A piece of cat printed cloth to be machine sew into beansprouts pillow cases.

Aussino cot bedding set.

Some nonsense faked nails from Daiso.

Finally i received baby's beansprouts pillows! Ain't they cute?

And we went to collect chocolates from The Sins at Centrepoint before our voucher expires. I stole one to eat from the beautiful box and it tasted like HEAVEN!

Thats all for yesterday!

xoxo

Today dear and i went to Tampines Mall to do our weekly groceries shopping. I really feel that i can raise up white flags to declare that i'm fat and useless now. Walk a bit i feel tired and backache man. 4 more weeks left only. I'm almost done with baby shopping, only left with the diapers and my confinement stuffs.

MEET YODA THE CAT

If batman has a cat, it would probably look like this

London -- Yoda, the four-eared cat, is so rare that his owners keep him indoors to prevent him getting catnapped. The feline has two extra "flaps" behind his normal ears, but is otherwise in good health and appears to have perfect hearing.

His owners, who picked him out from a litter of eight-week-old kittens being handed around in a bar, say that local vets were mystified when they took him for a check-up. "We began to realise that we had something very special," said Valerie Rock.

"As a result, he has been an indoor cat and has a chip installed in case he gets lost," she added.

"Yoda is so different that we were concerned that he might be catnapped."

Valerie and her husband named the cat Yoda after hearing that the Star Wars character was based on George Lucas's cat.

Yoda's extra ears are not attached to the base of his skull, with one placed slightly behind the other. They are believed to be the result of a genetic mutation.

Today i'm super tired. Woke up at 5am to prepare go Tampines stadium with dear to watch him and his friends play badminton. Then at 9am went to eat breakfast at my house nearby and to the wet market to buy groceries for the week. The market so many aunties and damn crowded. I met up with my auntie there and she showed me how to choose vegetables. The sun was very hot at that time, dear and i was perspiring like mad. I think i now really don't have the stamina to go this type of place liao. PLUS the plastic bags that they put the meats are stained with the meats blood and water, so dirty and er xin. From what i see, dear can communicate better with the vendors at the market. So next time i will shake leg and relax at home, while he go market buy the groceries. =P

After the market trip, we headed over to my auntie's place which is nearby to get some preloved items from her. She handed me a infant car seat, walker, baby play gym, cot mobile toys, some bibs, 2 tubes of nappy cream and her nursing pyjamas. She will be handing me a new sarong as well. =D My cousin know how to walk already! He's so cute, with straight hair that looks rebonded. And i saw his there, so cute also, so small (toddler de ma, of cos small lah). Hahahahaha... Bian tai. Anyway, my auntie told me to start washing the baby clothes and can pack my hospital bag liao, so next week i shall start washing!

Nowadays baby vivienne loves to move a lot. Since she's already head down, my stomach and lungs are constantly being kick by her, thus making me feel breathless most of the time. Now i understand the pain of being pregnant, besides, my back is aching more often and my left knee cap hurts every now and then. Today i think baby move for more than 100 times liao. The more she kicks and moves, the more i feel that i'm full. These few days don't really have much appetite. And my tummy is really growing bigger and bigger, stupid palmers coco butter lotion, i dun think it's helping to prevent stretch marks lor, my sexy tummy is starting to grow a bit le. Dieeeeeee...

K then, shall blog till here. I'm feeling tired today. My eyelids are heavy. I'm feeling exhausted with heavy limbs, i'm flying mentally. *Sighs*
Saturday, August 23, 2008

Today was a fulfilling day. Went for breakfast at Ya Kun early in the morning before going for my 34th week checkup. Doc finally told me a decent estimated weight of baby. Found out that she's kind of light, 1.9kg only. Damn depressing lor, i gained 1.9kg over 2 weeks, now i'm a whopping 58.5kg. So heavy can? Dunno why, but i these 2 weeks never eat anything much or fattening leh.

After my appointment dear and i went many places to buy some baby stuffs. We found cheap bedding set selling at $55.90 at Taka Baby Fair. But it's not those very good quality thick kind. So friends if you see this, you can consider giving us better quality bedding sets in unisex colour. =)

We went back to Khaki Bukit to buy the mosquito net stand. Didn't take picture of it, cos nothing special, just a piece of metal. We also bought a 5 piece blanket set, a dozen of baby cloth nappy and a cute bear bear hat (or is it a dog?).

Oh ya, MIL bought these cute precious moments hat, booties, mittens and bib set for baby a few weeks back.

xoxo

Things that we've bought and collected for baby so far, lying in the cupboard and drawer.

I spotted this super pretty bed from a brochure in the letterbox. Didn't know that such lovely bed exists. I called and enquired the price, it's $799. Kinda expensive, so dream on for me then. Haha.

Fatty me.

*Poor me, my contact lens never arrive at my letterbox. $22 gone, with 1+ month of waiting... I almost 5 months never wear contacts liao leh. T.T

Today dear woke up damn early and left home at 4+am to catch his flight to KL for a business trip, he has some meeting/training over there. He will be back tonight at 8+pm. Sian, i'm all alone at home again. This entire week i never go out at all lor. And everyday i'm eating home cooked food. This weekend, which is tomorrow, i'm going for my gynae's appointment again, i gonna eat some fast food and go down to Taka baby fair before it ends on 24 aug. ='( Lonely... i am so lonely... I miss dear.

QUALIFYING DATE FOR

ENHANCED M&P PACKAGE

BACKDATED TO AUG 17

SINGAPORE : Expectant mothers whose babies are due before 1 January 2009 will still get to enjoy the Baby Bonus and incentive measures in the enhanced Marriage and Parenthood (M&P) Package, announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day Rally Speech.

This is because the qualifying date has been backdated to August 17, in response to appeals from expectant mothers and fathers.

The Baby Bonus and other measures in the enhanced Marriage and Parenthood Package was originally slated to kick off in January next year. But feedback from parents whose babies are due before the New Year sparked the revision.

Tan Sushan, founder of Financial Women's Association of Singapore, said: "They've listened. This also means that they can't always get it right (the) first time, but they are listening, they are reacting. It's a positive stand. I would say, keep it coming."

Mothers who had originally wanted to petition to the government to register their displeasure, were happy with the move.

25-year-old Felicia Yang, who is expecting her first child, said: "We're all having our first, so with this incentive, we'd get over this first one first, and I think most of us will be thinking of having our second kid."

So all expectant mothers will be entitled to a host of tax benefits and child-related perks with immediate effect.

Working mothers can now enjoy the enhanced Baby Bonus of S$4,000 for the first and second child, and S$6,000 for the third and fourth.

Other perks include the immediate start of their four-month paid maternity leave, and six-day paid childcare leave per year.

One person commented: "I think that would be an excellent move, otherwise they would have annoyed those mothers who are about to give birth, and I would be very sore if I were a mother about to give birth. So, I'm glad they shifted it to August 17."

Working mums will benefit from the generous tax benefits in the package.

Take for example a working mother who earns S$100,000 a year and has two children. Under the existing tax scheme, she will enjoy S$24,000 in child tax relief and working mother's child relief.

Under the new scheme, her total child relief would go up by about 80 per cent to S$43,000, which could be used to offset her earned income for tax purposes.

But even with the benefits now backdated, not everyone is convinced that this will mean a baby boom, anytime soon.

One person said: "I'm sure they're not going to just change their entire family plans just because of this, but yes, maybe it will make them reconsider."

Another noted: "Those who are on borderline would be incentivised. It means they may already be thinking about it. And this would be a good bonus for them. But for those who are quite far away from those thoughts, it might not move them that much, I think."

Meanwhile, the 50 per cent co-funding for assisted reproduction technology treatment will also take effect from August 17. The subsidy was to be implemented in September.

The actual payment of the enhanced Baby Bonus and subsidies will only be made after the necessary legislative and administrative changes are completed. - CNA/ms

Dear and i were still discussing about it yesterday night during dinner time. I was initially quite upset about the 1k loss of baby bonus and 6k loss of Children Development Account funds. Somemore it's like once in a life time we can be first time parents. But anyway, since the government have backdated the qualifying date, we should all rejoice, but sometimes i really wonder if the single parents feel disadvantaged.
Suddenly i feel that i love Singapore more. =)

ANYBODY HAS EFFECTIVE WAYS TO ELIMINATE DISGUSTING LIZARDS IN YOUR HOUSE?

Lizards are freaking disgusting and i really mean it. The semi transparent pinkish or chao da skins that they have really irks me. Worst still, they shit around on the things in your house. I just found a lizard shit on my hot water flask lor. Damn those freaking lizards. I can't imagine them climbing around on your kitchen utensils and on your makeups and beauty products in the bathroom. Omg, they really sucks. When i was young, i remember myself squeezing and breaking a damn lizard egg while playing my toys, initially the innocent me thought that it was a moth ball, but damn, i'm wrong, it broke open when i squeezed it and it caused me to wash my hands for the entire day. I was so traumatised back then, machiam my hands kena rape like that. Don't tell me those creatures are innocent and they are good helpers in eating up insects, i don't believe lor. My house still has lots of insects, ants etc. What are the lizards doing? They are merely lazing around, hanging on the walls, peeping at you while you bathe and have sex. And damn, they are doing it "guang ming zheng da -ly", and never get caught. Oh yah, a few weeks back while i was standing at the door talking to a sales woman doing survey, a freaking dried lizard just fell down from no where. It brushed across my arm, and i have to wash them again and again with dettol. The dried body of the lizard looks super er xin, limbs all curled up and it's totally flat. Yucks, omg! Seriously i hate i hate and i really hate hate hate lizards. They are total fuck fuck fuck man. Someone please tell me how to get rid of them asap!

*EDITED! My house de lizards very clever, they don't fall for lizard traps. I've tried already.

DRINKING SOYA BEAN AT THE RIGHT TIME

All of us know that soyabean drink provides good protein to our body...
but many of us don't know that there are certain days we should avoid
drinking it.

Soya bean drinks are best consumed on hot sunny days when the sun is
strong. The soya milk will give lots of nutrients to the body as the
body is able to absorb the protein well.

However, avoid the drink when the weather is cloudy or raining. Taking
the drink in these weather, the body will not be able to take in the
protein and will result in a disease called 'GOUT' or 'high acidic
urine' due to the high protein residue in the body, after a long run.

This disease will cause pain to your knee joints and it will only be in
control when you control your food intake of proteins and medication.
The pain is unbearable and usually you will have no idea what you have
taken to cause the pain. Food like soya beans, ikan bilis, broccoli,
spinach, peanuts, & animal organs(i.e. pork liver) etc will have to be avoided to prevent the pain from attacking.

Have you all heard of the news about the fire that broke out at an oil barge in Johor's Tanjong Langsat? The fire has been burning for the past 3 days already. The house that dear and i are living in has a great sea view of the Pasir Ris Beach, so we have witnessed the HUGE fire that was burning for the past 3 days.

On the first night, the fire was so huge that it lighted up the sky in that area with red flashes, probably explosions that are occurring repeatedly, and you can see fire balls shooting upwards. Imaging how huge and high the fire can be even when a tall island is blocking its' view. The scene looks like some fire balls show in Sentosa. LOL, but a huge one. Here's a video of it (my hands are a bit shaky and my blog template too small).

Today is the 3rd day already, there's slight fire burning. More smokes are seen. The smokes have caused the sky above the area to form grey clouds, which will probably be blown to the Singapore's direction and fall as dirty rains. Imagine how much oil resource is wasted, the company sure suffers a great loss man.

Singapore govt to spend S$700m more on pro-family measures
(i've bolded the important points for people who are lazy to read the whole thing)

SINGAPORE: The Singapore government plans to spend an additional S$700 million a year on measures to boost its flagging birth rate. Currently, it spends about S$900 million a year.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday night that a baby brings much joy, but can also be a logistic and financial challenge, so a slew of measures will be implemented by the government to create more time and more funds to help parents cope with their children.

Paid maternity leave will be extended from 12 weeks to 16 weeks, and the extra four weeks can be taken anytime during the baby's first year. It was previously extended from eight to 12 weeks in 2004.

There will also be a larger baby bonus for first-time parents, more tax incentives to encourage mothers to work, more incentives for the fifth and subsequent children, and more financial support for couples who go for In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment.

On top of that, Mr Lee said parenting is not just the mother's responsibility.

"I used to change nappies, in the days before Pampers. So you've actually got to fold the cloth, you've got to put it on, you've got to put the safety pin, I haven't pricked any baby yet. If I can do it, that means anybody can do it," he quipped.

Emphasising that parenting is a job for both parents has influenced some policy changes which he hopes will help to shift attitudes. Childcare leave, which can be claimed by either parent, will be extended from two to six days per year.

There will also be one week of unpaid infant-care leave per year, and mums or dads can claim it until their child turns two years old.

Mr Lee acknowledged that professional women find the cost of not working the highest, and he cited his own mother's work-life choices.

A successful lawyer, Mrs Lee Kuan Yew chose to put her children first, took on fewer cases, avoided evening work functions and ate lunch at home every day with her children.

He said having children is a personal choice, and parents have to decide their own priorities.

The government will help by catering to demand and creating 20,000 places at 200 new childcare centres over the next five years. There will also be more financial support to help kindergartens upgrade their staff and curricula, as well as more financial help for parents.

Mr Lee said: "These measures all add up to a very significant package. We are talking of about maybe S$700 million a year. If more babies are born, it will be more than S$700 million a year. But even that is about double of what we are spending today on child incentives and all together we will have about S$1.6 billion spent a year or 0.6 per cent of GDP."

For many people in Singapore, getting married is the first priority. Mr Lee said the government would do what it could to help, but urged young Singaporeans not to leave it till it is too late and to make time to go out, meet new friends and if necessary, join a dating agency.

Mr Lee also spent some time sharing humorous stories from the feedback he received from dating agencies, including unrealistic expectations and poor social graces.

He announced that the government will merge the Social Development Unit (SDU) which caters to graduates, and the Social Development Service (SDS) for non-graduates to increase matchmaking flexibility and activities.

SDU will also come up with an SDU Trust Mark to ensure that those who prefer using private dating agencies will get quality service.

Congratuations Singapore for winning the silver Olympic Medal in women's team table tennis!

Hi everyone! It has been a long long long time since i've updated again. Nowadays nothing to update and i'm lazy. Anyway, last weekend we went to hunt for baby cots and strollers. We went many many places, eg. Baby Kingdom & Hyperstore at Kaki Bukit (their stroller appear to be more expensive, only decided to go back buy their mosquito net stand), Takashimaya (parking as expensive as usual), Tai Sing (Combi stroller distributor near Beach Rd), United Squares (what a lousy shopping centre) and finally to Toa Payoh Kiddy Palace (it was so big). In the end, we have decided on a $339 nina baby cot which comes with holed mattress, but haven't gotten the full bedding set. We also bought a expensive stroller, priced at $559, Combi New Ricco vx 530. I think baby super xin fu lor, in the past we where got use stroller so expensive de. Anyway, the baby cot and stroller will only arrive at our place on 6th of September, after the lunar 7th month... Omg, it's like 3 weeks later... I can't wait to receive them! This week i gotta crawl down to Taka baby fair again to buy bedding set and other misc. items.

Btw, we've changed the idea of having a baby nursery room. We gonna put the baby cot right beside our bed, so that we can sleep together. Dear gonna shift his computer table away. I suddenly find that it's such a bad idea cos when baby is sleeping in our room, i would spend my free time using the com, how am i supposed to hear her when she wakes up? Oh, maybe getting a laptop is a good solution right? Hehe......

Advice needed!!!!
Should i stock up disposable baby diapers?
When should i start washing baby's clothes?

Happy 34 weeks!
Friday, August 15, 2008

I feel a empty and meaningless life when everything in my wish list seems unachievable and stagnant at the moment. I wonder how much fulfilment can those aunties really feel staying at home, being a woman without much power and control, other than seeing the fulfilment of nurturing their kids. Being look upon as a great mother is not enough for me, what i want is also to be look upon as an independent and successful woman.

This post gonna bore the guys off. Came across some interesting BEAUTY TIPS on the web, and i've picked out the more useful ones(at least for me).

1. Powder Your Roots
If your hairline starts to look greasy, dig up a big, fluffy makeup brush, and dip it into a pot of loose powder. Tap it once on the back of your hand to remove the excess, then dust it over your roots. It mops up oil and blends into your strands, so no one will know you didn't shower.

2. Scent Strands with Perfume
Spray a light shot of fragrance into the bristles. Run it through strands from roots to ends and your hair will smell amazing throughout the day.

3. Spot-Treat Smudges
Dip a cotton swab in eye-makeup remover, and trace it along your lids to erase any slipups or goofs when there's no time to redo your whole look.

4. Super-Glue a Nail
Instead of tearing off your nail when it breaks, put a tiny dab of Super Glue over the split, and paint a generous layer of your favorite nailpolish shade over it. Go for an opaque option (like red, purple, or coral) to camouflage and seal the crack.

5. Freeze Your Eyeliner
If the tip of your eyeliner pencil crumbles and smears on your lids, store the liner in the freezer for 15 minutes before use so the tip is firm and goes across your skin smoothly.

6. Use Toothpaste on a Zit
Use just a pea-size amount. Let sit for 15 minutes to absorb the oil so the pimple won't get more clogged, then wash off.

7. Heat Up Your Curler
If you have stick-straight lashes, try blasting your metal eyelash curler with a hair dryer for a couple seconds to heat it up so your lashes bend more easily. And use a waterproof mascara. The formula dries faster than other mascaras, so it sets the curl more effectively.

8. Use Soap Without Water
You know those fancy bars that are actually too pretty to use? Toss them in your underwear or tee-shirt drawers to make your skin smell delicious.

9. Groom Brows with a Toothbrush
Mist an (unused!) toothbrush or eyebrow comb with hair spray to help flatten and tame unruly brows.

10. Put Diaper-Rash Cream on Dry Spots
Slather on a thick layer of diaper-rash cream to heal cracked elbows and feet.

11. Lubricate Your Lashes
An easy way to draw attention to your eyes without putting on a pile of makeup is to comb petroleum jelly lightly through the tips of eyelashes to get a sexy, subtle sparkle.

12. Air-Dry Your Curls
Let your hair dry indoors before going out in the cold. The curls will be really bouncy and piecey-perfect.

13. Shave with Conditioner
Ran out of shaving cream? Do double duty by coating your stems with a thick hair conditioner. It softens the hair so it's easier to shave off and makes legs feel amazingly silky.

14. Exfoliate Your Pits
If your underarms start to look dry and flaky, an easy trick is to exfoliate them with a gentle face scrub to keep that skin pretty when going sleeveless.

15. "Brush" with Mouthwash
If you're too wiped out after a late night of partying to clean your teeth, rinse with water and mouthwash, then use a dry toothbrush on the area where your teeth hit your gums.

Yesterday we went to the Baby Fair at Takashimaya. I was damn excited when i look down from B1 and saw how big the fair was. A lot of people, especially babies and pregnant women.

I bought the AVENT IQ24 steriliser, it is on promotion now, $168, comes with a free Thermabag, 125ml feeding bottle and a bolster. I think it's a damn good deal cos i see outside selling at more expensive Nett prices, no free gifts at all. And really got a lot of people buy also.

And the rest of the stuffs that i bought. Pigeon on 20% discount also.

xoxo

Dear showed me this picture that he saw on his car forum. So cute and funny can? I didn't know cats enjoy mass orgy too.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Extract of the National Day Speech on the baby thing.

"To secure our long-term future, we also need enough babies to replace ourselves. Year by year, fewer Singaporeans are getting married, and those who do are having fewer children.

We’ve implemented one measure after another over the years, but we have not succeeded in reversing the trend.

We have to take this very seriously. Marriage and parenthood are personal decisions.

But we can create an environment where Singaporeans see them as a natural and important part of life, and where young couples get support in starting families. We have looked at this comprehensively and will take further steps to address the practical problems which couples face.

I hope more Singaporeans will find fulfilment in bringing up children and setting up a happy family. Let’s make Singapore a good home where citizens lead full, meaningful lives, and experience the joys of bringing up a new generation."

*The details will be announced next week at the 2 hours long national day rally by the PM hopefully...

Wao, it has been days since i've updated my blog. For those who are interested i shall briefly summarize what i've done over the past few days.

Monday
Stayed at home for the whole day, rotting. Dear returned home after work with some rented VCDs and we watched The Spiderwick Chronicles. Indeed a movie for children. Slept damn early that night, cos Dear super tired from work. So healthy, we slept at 11pm as compared to last time de 2-3am.

Tuesday
Stayed at home for the whole day, as usual, rotting. Dear's maid came over to clean our very very dirty house. In the night, i cooked dinner. To my surprise, when i broke open an egg, i discovered that it was double yolk. So cool, twins leh! First time i've seen such a thing in my entire life. When Dear came back, i asked him what should i do with it, he suggested that we should eat it. So i fried it, and it ended up in our stomachs, maybe by now, it's in the sewage already. And before our early bedtime, we watched Rogue Crocodile. Lousy and boring show lor.

Alien twins egg

Too bad... So cruel T.T

Wednesday
Rushed through the movie Waterhorse, cos it's the VCDs due date already, 10 000 bc was returned unwatched. Waterhorse so cute when it's small. Children movie once again. Anyway, Dear came home in the evening and fetch me for my gynae's appointment. Realized that the traffic was so congested in the night, cos of the cars and traffic lights, so it made us felt very rush. Then my gynae's night clinic got a lot of patients one. So we decided that our next appointment 2 weeks later should be scheduled on a Saturday morning.

The 3D scan for the day was even worse than the previous one. This time one got so many holes and only can see one side of her face. As usual, her hands were all over her face. I caught her yawning while the doctor scanned. Too bad Dear didn't managed to see it. So cute can, her mouth open so big. Haha... Doctor told me that her head is down already. So fast? And Dear said he saw it down a few weeks ago liao lor. >.<

Thursday
Met Cindy and Yong Long in the afternoon at White Sands for lunch. After that we walked back to my house to play mahjong. One person missing and that's Si Rong.

Si Rong has turned into a tiny bear.

It was raining so heavily that Cindy and i had to call off our trip to buy the 8 millions toto. Sad... Dear came home after work and we were still playing. He told us that we should actually play anti clockwise. Cos we thought that it was clockwise all the way! Viwawa is clockwise what? Hahaha...

Friday
That's today! BEIJING OLYMPICS! 08/08/08, such a special date. And what? TOMORROW IS NATIONAL DAY ALREADY?!?!?! Tonight in the long long long National Day Speech, the new baby incentives will be announce. Great!
50 days more to my due date.

OH MY I SAW THESE SHOES ON THE FORUM. SO HILARIOUS! WAKAKA!

They are called "My Baby First High Heels", imported from USA, NOT for baby who can walk or learning to walk. Too bad they are selling at $38 per pair, so expensive can?
