Singapore confirms three more H1N1 flu cases
Posted: 28 May 2009 2101 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore on Thursday confirmed three more cases of Influenza A (H1N1), bringing the number of infected persons in the country to four.

A day earlier, Singapore confirmed its first case of A(H1N1) flu, in a 22-year-old female Singapore Management University (SMU) student who recently returned to the city-state from New York.

The second confirmed case is a 43-year-old Singapore Permanent Resident who returned to Singapore from San Francisco via Manila on Tuesday (26 May) at 1750 hours.

She was on Singapore Airlines flight SQ 917 and was seated at 33H. She became unwell while on board.

The third confirmed case is a 28-year-old American woman working in Singapore. She returned to Singapore from Honolulu via Tokyo on Tuesday (26 May) at 2353 hours, on United Airlines flight UA 803. She was seated at 33C and became unwell on 26 May.

The fourth confirmed case is a 28-year-old Singaporean man who returned to Singapore from Chicago via Hong Kong on 25 May at 0036hrs. He was on United Airlines flight UA 895 and was seated at 55H. He became unwell on 25 May.

The patients are currently being treated at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).

In a statement, the Health Ministry says their symptoms are relatively mild and all the patients are in stable condition.

Contact tracing of their close contacts, including passengers on the same flights, is ongoing. They will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis.

The Health Ministry says that passengers within three rows in front and behind the cases who have not been contacted by MOH yet should call the MOH hotline at 1800-333 9999.

The affected rows for SQ 917 are 30-36; for UA 803, the affected rows are 30-36 and for UA 895, the affected rows are 52-58.

The Health Ministry reminds those who have travelled in the preceding 7 days to affected countries to seek immediate medical attention once they develop influenza-like symptoms, and call 993 for an ambulance. This, it says, will help minimise the risk of infecting those around them.

Meanwhile, the MOH has also reminded all medical practitioners and healthcare institutions to continue to be vigilant for suspect cases.

Singapore confirms first case of H1N1
Channel NewsAsia - Wednesday, May 27

SINGAPORE: Singapore has confirmed its first case of Influenza A (H1N1).

The patient, a 22—year—old Singapore Management University student, is currently being treated at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and is in stable condition.

The Singaporean woman was in New York from May 14—24. She arrived back in Singapore from New York on SQ25 on 26 May at 6.30am. She was seated at Row 55.

She began to develop a cough while onboard. She passed the thermal scanner uneventfully as she did not have fever then.

Later in the morning, she consulted a GP who decided to send her to TTSH via a 993 ambulance, given her travel history.

She was immediately admitted for testing. Laboratory confirmation of her infection was made by midnight of 26 May.

The patient has been vigilant in monitoring her own condition and had sought immediate medical attention once she realized that she was unwell.

Her attending GP, through his quick response in activating the 993 ambulance for the patient, had also helped to minimize the spread of infection from this case.

The Health Ministry says it has initiated contact tracing of her close contacts. They will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis.

Passengers who had travelled in the same flight and were seated in rows 52 to 58 are urged to call the hotline at 1800—333 9999 to enable the MOH to check on their health condition.

The MOH adds that all medical practitioners and healthcare institutions should continue to be vigilant to suspect cases.

Singapore will continue with temperature screening for passengers entering Singapore at all checkpoints (land, sea and air).

All passengers passing through or entering Singapore are given Health Alert Notices on board their flights, advising them to monitor their own health if they have been to affected areas and to seek medical attention immediately if they are not well.

Singaporeans are reminded to maintain high standards of personal hygiene. This means covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough, and washing your hand frequently with soap and water, especially after contact with respiratory secretions, for example, after sneezing and coughing.

Everyone also needs to be socially responsible. This means staying home and avoiding crowded places (including trains, buses, offices), putting on a surgical mask and seeing a doctor if you have flu symptoms.

MOH advises those who travelled to affected areas to closely monitor their health and seek treatment as soon as possible should they develop symptoms.

Members of the public are also advised to exercise caution over travel to affected areas.

In the event that travel is unavoidable, the public is advised to take precautionary measures such as avoiding crowded areas and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene at all times.

However, if you are unwell with fever and cough but have no travel history to affected areas, you are also advised to see a doctor and stay at home.

MOH is monitoring the situation closely and will update the public should there be any new developments.

For more information on Influenza A (H1N1—2009), you can access MOH’s website at www.moh.gov.sg, call MOH’s hotline at 1800—333 9999, or visit www.flu.gov.sg.

Aww... My two loves...

My blog song. The lyrics is so meaningful.

Spending all my life

Spending all my life
每当变成习惯 生活太淡 总有感动的意外
我就明白 你是我的依赖
就算是幸福都由老天在管
只借不送 我还是不肯还 用真爱耍赖
我们从日出日落 又日出 走过来
愿意为爱你去忙碌 Spending all my life
每当命运变幻 需要狂欢 需要流泪 你都在
我就明白 你是我的依赖
我们明白 爱是互相依赖

Presenting to you the cute pig cake that i bought for dear. The nose gone lor, the eye balls also dislodged. Actually more cute one.

Baby's hand was so fast, she scratched the pig's backside leaving behind 2 long scars.

Cut the backside. Ouch so ke lian.

In the end the pig got cut into half but it appears to be still alive with eyes wide open. Anyway, the cake didn't taste great cos it was loaded with lots of cream. This is what i call nice to see but not nice to eat.

Angel and Demons
Tuesday, May 19, 2009

The movie seems to have a more meaningful picture to me cos we've been to the places.

The St Peter's Basilica

Spot the stairs that the camerlengo burnt himself to death?

That's the illuminati church, can see the angel on top of the buildiing?

So after the movie, i was wondering if the movie was filmed in the Vetican City and i found my answers online. Of cos in the first place i already thought that the Vetican's authorities wouldn't allow.

Adapted from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/film-news/5225645/Angels-and-Demons-producers-defied-Vatican-ban.html

The Catholic Church refused to let the movie be filmed in the Vatican or in any of its churches in Rome because of its anger over The Da Vinci Code, which revolves around the idea that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and secretly fathered children. The ban included the filming of church exteriors.

The Vatican said the film, which also stars Ewan McGregor and was adapted from Brown’s best-selling book, was “an offence against God”.

But that left producers with a big problem.

“The ban on filming put us in serious difficulty because we were not able to carry out the photographic surveys necessary to reconstruct the setting,“ special effects supervisor, Ryan Cook, told an Italian film magazine.

“So for weeks we sent a team of people who mixed with tourists and took thousands of photos and video footage.“ The photos and film helped digital effects specialists recreate computer-generated images of the imposing statues, colonnades and monuments which encircle St Peter’s Square, right down to the shadows they cast on the ground.

“We filled the square with a huge crowd, created mostly with digital figures, some standing still, others moving, clapping their hands or scratching their noses,“ Mr Cook told the magazine Ciak.

Happy Mothers' Day!

My very first mothers' day

Dear bought this chio burberry dress for baby.

Actually today never really do anything. Dear went for his exams and i headed down to Far East to do my nails in the afternoon. I did gel extensions at $60 bucks only, excluding nail art. I spent a total of 2 hours at the nail salon. Didn't make too long cos i scared i will scratch baby. And due to lack of time i didn't make any special designs. In the night dear finished his exams, came down to fetch me, and off we went to Downtown East to have a Mother's Day dinner with my mother in law.

I gonna learn to sing this song sang by Jolin.

But too bad, eating too much pills is not very good for my reproductive system also, higher risk of cancer if i'm not wrong. Hoiyoooooo~

Woman bites lover's penis

off in car crash

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

A boss and his secretary who were having an affair saw their romantic tryst interrupted in a wince-inducing manner - after a car crash led her to accidentally bite his penis off.
According to reports in China Press and Sin Chew Daily, the 30-year-old woman was performing oral sex on her boss in a car in a Singapore park, when the car was struck by a reversing van.

The impact caused her to bite the man's penis off.

Just in case this wasn't already bad enough for those involved, the incident was observed by a private detective who had been sent by the woman's husband to catch them out.

He described how, shortly after parking, the car started to 'shake violently' - but then was hit by the van. He said that the woman screamed loudly, with her mouth covered in blood.

Helpfully, the investigator called an ambulance to take the man to hospital. His lover followed him there, with part of his penis.

The investigator said he's never seen an incident like it before.

Happened to stumble upon this from somebody's journal.

STROKE : Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R...

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word.
I agree.
If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
Seriously..

Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone
that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .......she said she had
just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared
a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken
to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke
at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps
Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless,
hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours
he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said
the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting
the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read
and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately,
the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe
brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny outside today.)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks,
call 995 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out
his tongue... If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the
other, that is also an indication of a stroke.
